Project Brief

In this study, we conducted a thorough analysis of cholera infection India by synthesizing data from various sources. This included a nationally representative serosurvey and information from clinical surveillance, outbreak reports, and national risk factors. A composite vulnerability index, considering seroincidence, household sanitation, safe drinking water, and poverty, was developed to identify cholera vulnerable areas in the country.

The study revealed the widespread presence of cholera infection across all five regions in India. It also underscored the geographic variability of cholera risk and highlighted specific regions requiring targeted interventions to mitigate the impact of the disease. The findings have contributed valuable insights for public health planning and interventions, emphasizing the importance of addressing region-specific vulnerabilities in the fight against cholera in India.

Role & Responsbilities

I contributed to the design, analysis, and interpretation of data examining cholera risk across India by integrating national serosurvey findings with epidemiologic and social determinant datasets, evidence synthesis from prior publications and data from ongoing surveillance of outbreaks of acute watery diarrhea. My primary role involved harmonizing multiple data sources, supporting the development of the analytical framework, and leading components of the statistical and spatial analyses that linked serologic markers with geographic and socioeconomic risk factors. I also participated in manuscript drafting and critical revision, ensuring that the findings were positioned to inform cholera surveillance and public health policy in India.
