Project Brief
My MD dissertation explored the health and wellbeing of homeless young adults living in night shelters across New Delhi. The study examined both mental and physical health, with a particular focus on patterns of substance use and associated vulnerabilities. This work highlighted the significant yet often overlooked health burden among urban homeless populations and underscored the need for inclusive, community-based public health interventions to address their unmet healthcare needs.
Role & Responsbilities
In my capacity as the Principal Investigator, I played a pivotal role in conceptualizing the study, developing the protocol, and formulating the analysis plan. Responsibilities also encompassed obtaining necessary regulatory clearances and local permissions for the study. Project management duties involved overseeing data collection, and subsequently, I conducted data analysis and interpretation. The final phase included the writing of manuscripts summarizing the research findings. This dissertation has contributed significant insights into the mental health and abuse history of homeless young men in Delhi, shedding light on a vulnerable population often marginalized in health research.
