Research tool / Dissertation assistant

Exploring antibiotic use in rural India.

Ask questions about my doctoral research. An AI assistant answers from passages of the dissertation and its analytic memos.

Every answer links to the passages it draws on, so you can check the evidence yourself.

Three connected questions.

My dissertation examines how antibiotics are used across households and smallholder farms, and how vaccination may reduce the need for antibiotic treatment.

01

Antibiotic use and care-seeking for diarrhea in under-5 children

Care pathways, treatment decisions and the conditions in which antibiotics become part of childhood illness care.

02

Antibiotic use in livestock by smallholder farmers

How farmers access antibiotics and weigh advice, animal health needs and everyday constraints.

03

Effectiveness of rotavirus vaccine in averting antibiotic-treated diarrhea episodes

What vaccination may change about diarrheal illness and subsequent antibiotic treatment.

You are using an AI system, not corresponding with me. Answers are generated by Meta’s Llama 3.3 70B model, run on Cloudflare Workers AI, from passages retrieved from my dissertation and analytic memos. The model is instructed to use only those passages, but it can still misread or misstate them, including numbers, effect estimates, confidence intervals and model details. Figures that do not appear in the retrieved passages are highlighted; this check does not catch every error.

Verify before you cite. Check important claims against the cited passage and the dissertation itself, and cite the dissertation rather than the assistant. If the assistant finds no relevant passage, that does not necessarily mean the dissertation does not address the topic. The analytic memos are unpublished working notes that provide interpretive context; they are not findings of the dissertation.

Not medical or veterinary advice. Answers describe research findings. Do not use them for diagnosis, treatment or decisions about the care of a person or an animal; consult a qualified health professional or veterinarian, or local emergency services if it is urgent.

Your privacy. Do not enter names, patient details or other personal or sensitive information. Your question is processed by Cloudflare, which hosts the assistant and runs the model; Cloudflare states that it does not use these inputs to train AI models. This site does not store the text of your questions. To enforce the daily limits, it keeps a one-way hash of your IP address, deleted within about two days. Some answers are saved for up to 30 days, without the question text or any information about who asked, so that repeated questions do not use up the free capacity.

A personal research project. The assistant is provided as is, without warranty, and has limited free capacity each day. It is not an official product of Johns Hopkins University or of any institution I am affiliated with, and they have not reviewed its answers.

Ask a question. Check the source.

Sources onlyThe assistant retrieves passages from the dissertation and its analytic memos and is instructed to answer from them alone.

Every claim citedNumbered markers open the passage behind each statement, including tables.

Figures checkedA number that does not appear in the retrieved passages is highlighted. The check catches invented figures, not every misreading.

Memos are contextThe analytic memos are unpublished working notes. They inform interpretation; findings come from the dissertation.

The assistant runs on free capacity that resets daily at 00:00 UTC. The earlier version on ChatGPT remains available. It is a separate system run by OpenAI: it needs a ChatGPT account, OpenAI’s terms and privacy policy apply, and its answers do not link to passages or flag figures.
