1. Participation in the Working Group Meeting of the Global Task Force for Cholera Control, World Health Organization

Policy Activity The Global Task Force for Cholera Control (GTFCC) organized the meeting of the Working Group on Clinical Management of Cholera to provide updates on the progress of the Ending Cholera Roadmap and to provide technical guidance and recommendations on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and antibiotic use for cholera.

2. Updates on Cholera Disease Burden and Vaccine Use in West Bengal

Policy Activity The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) organized the 16th Standing Technical Sub-Committee (STSC) meeting to discuss updates on cholera disease burden and explore the option of programmatic introduction of Oral Cholera Vaccines in West Bengal on a pilot basis in a known cholera hotspot.

My contribution Along with Dr. Suman Kanungo, Scientist E, Division of Epidemiology, ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, I developed and presented the case for operationalization of oral cholera vaccine in known cholera hotspots in Kolkata, using the existing public health infrastructure of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

 

3. Impact of Climate Change and Water and Food-Borne Infectious Diseases
